Mother Dog Saves Pups From a Wildfire By Burying Them

This mother dog is being hailed as a hero after she buried her puppies to keep them safe from a wild fire in Chile. The Labrador mix, named Blackie, realized the fire was headed toward her and her nine puppies. She knew she was not going to be able to get them all out of the area in time, so she dug a hole and buried them.

Blackie did not climb into the hole with her pups, but she did manage to survive the fire. The puppies stayed in the hole for hours until rescue crews could get back into the area. They heard the puppies yelping, and were able to pull all nine puppies out successfully.

It took them almost an hour to rescue all the pups, and then they reunited them with their mother. Once the story hit the news, a group of Chilean locals agreed to adopt the puppies as soon as they are old enough to leave their mother.

Samantha’s biggest passion in life is spending time with her Boxer dogs. After she rescued her first Boxer in 2004, Samantha fell in love with the breed and has continued to rescue three other Boxers since then. She enjoys hiking and swimming with her Boxers, Maddie and Chloe.
