The operations of two major pet food brands merged earlier this year to create what is now known as Whitebridge Pet Brands. Cloud Star, a pet food manufacturer in San Luis, California, and Petropics Gourmet Whole Foods have now joined forces.

Cloud Star got its start as a company back in 1999. Brennan Johnson and Jennifer Melton had just adopted their dog Samantha and she was a very picky eater. Samantha also had a few food allergies, and the couple couldn’t find a commercial treat that would meet her health needs and satisfy her taste buds.

They began baking their own treats, known as Buddy Biscuits, and eventually even donated some to a local animal shelter to help with a fundraiser. The treats were a huge hit, and people in their local community started calling to try and buy more.

Since then, Cloud Star has expanded to include a large variety of wholesome and all-natural dog treats, as well as Wag More Bark Less merchandise and grooming products. All their treats and grooming products they offer are made in the United States with top-quality ingredients.

Petropics created the first real gourmet pet food to hit the market. They produce human grade, grain-free, foods made with whole, shredded, or sliced seafood and meats. They use a nutrient profile that is similar to the natural prey that cats and dogs desire in order to develop the best pet foods possible.

They refer to their food as being biologically appropriate, and they are most commonly known for their Tiki Cat and Tiki Dog brands of pet food. Petropics creates pet food on the basis that 75-85 percent of live prey is moisture and animals need that moisture for healthy digestion. The company strives to make their pet food as close to live prey as possible.

Oliver Amice, who joined the Cloud Star family in 2014, will lead Whitebridge Pet Brands as their CEO. The new product line will include Tiki Dog and Tiki Cat food, as well as Cloud Stars treat brands Wag More Bark Less and Buddy Biscuits.

Jennifer Melton, the founder of Cloud Star, and Robert and Christine Hackett, founders of Petropics, will remain on board to advise the Whitebridge Pet Brand management team. They will also all remain major shareholders.

Samantha’s biggest passion in life is spending time with her Boxer dogs. After she rescued her first Boxer in 2004, Samantha fell in love with the breed and has continued to rescue three other Boxers since then. She enjoys hiking and swimming with her Boxers, Maddie and Chloe.
