Exclusive Paw-Friendly Rubberized SurfaceForget the traction-less carpeting or rough sandpaper of other pet ramps. Neither can provide safe or long-term traction, especially with added weather conditions. The unique rubberized traction surface of the PetStep ramp allows dogs to naturally dig into the material when walking. Plus, it still provides reliable traction in all environmental conditions like rain, snow, mud, or debris. The ramp can easily be washed if needed with just soap and water. |
Large Weight CapacityThe PetStep ramp has an exceptional 500 lb capacity. This means that dogs of any size or breed can safely use the ramp. The ramp holds up with extensive use and will not falter under the weight of your dog. You and your dog can count on the ramp during your adventures for years to come. |
Convenient Portability & StorageThe folding PetStep ramp features convenient portability in addition to its unparalleled stability. The ramp easily opens and closes in just seconds to make traveling with your dog a breeze. Lifting the ramp feels like lifting a medium-sized bag of dog food. Ergonomic cut-out handles prevent pinched hands and make storing the ramp a cinch! A latch keeps the ramp closed when folded for easy transportation and storage. |
Durable, Heavy-Duty ConstructionHandi-Ramp has been constructing accessibility ramps since 1958. We have translated this expertise into ramps for pets with PetStep. Where Does the PetStep Ramp Work Best?
|
|
|
---|---|---|
VehiclesThe PetStep ramp is perfect for virtually any vehicle including sedans, SUVs, trucks, and vans. With a ramp length of 70 inches, the PetStep makes vehicles with high rises like a lifted pickup truck accessible to your dog. The ramp can be placed through the rear of the vehicle or through the vehicle's side doors. When using the ramp through the side door, we recommend the PetStep Side Entry Support Strap (sold separately) for additional stability. |
FurnitureIf you enjoy relaxing with your dog, the PetStep ramp allows them to get onto the couch, bed, or other furniture with ease. The non-slip rubber edge of the ramp keeps the ramp stable when propped up against furniture. When not in use, the ramp can simply be folded are stored away. If your dog is on the heavier side, it can be difficult to get them onto the exam table at the vet. Luckily, the portable PetStep ramp can be used in that situation as well! |
Over StepsWhether your dog is older, has health conditions like hip dysplasia, or is just small, stairs can present as an obstacle. The PetStep ramp can be placed over steps to allow your dog to safely and easily reach the top. Keep in mind that the taller the rise of the stairs, the steeper the ramp will be. The PetStep ramp is intended for small series of steps like those leading up to a deck or porch like pictured above, and not full stairways. |
The PetStep Ramp is Perfect for All Dogs

Large DogsEven when able-bodied, jumping into the back of an SUV can be difficult for large dogs. Plus, repeated jumping can damage dogs' joints. The PetStep ramp can support any large dog breed with its 500 lb capacity. The ramp remains sturdy when in use and will not falter under the weight of your large dog. |
Small DogsDue to their shorter stature, it can be impossible for small dogs to jump into vehicles or onto furniture on their own. Because of this, small dog owners are probably used to picking up their dogs to place them where they need to go. The PetStep ramp allows small dogs to access hard-to-reach areas on their own and avoids the strain of owners constantly having to lift their dogs. |
Dogs With Health ConditionsDogs who have had a major surgery or suffer from health conditions like hip dysplasia will not be able to jump into the car or climb steps on their own. The gentle slope of the PetStep ramp makes it much easier for your dog to access your home or vehicle. The non-slip surface ensures solid traction so your dog can feel safe while walking. |
Older DogsWhile they may have been able to run and jump with ease in their younger years, older dogs can begin to struggle with moving as they once did. Older dogs are also more likely to suffer from conditions that arthritis that make it harder to walk. The PetStep ramp grants more mobility to older dogs by creating safe and reliable access to vehicles, furniture, and more. |

This ramp has a gentle slope that provides assistance to pets that cannot leap onto high surfaces.
The Folding 70" Pet Ramp by PetSTEP is made from high-quality plastic materials, which makes it sturdy and durable. The ramp has several safety features including a unique non-slip ridged surface that is not found on other ramps. This surface is soft on pets paws and helps pets maintain grip and traction. Plus there are no materials used such as carpet, tape, or sandpaper that can trap in odors. A soft heavy duty rubber universal non-slip grip is found on each end that fits vehicles and edges.
This lightweight (18.5 lbs) portable ramp can be folded in half and has molded ergonomic handles built in on each side making it easy to carry and store. Easy to setup and low on maintenance, this ramp can be cleaned with soap and water. The base of this ramp maintains traction which helps secure the ramp in place as pets use it to climb up or down. The total weight capacity for this ramp is 500 lbs. (for use with 4 legged animals only).
To use, simply unfold the ramp and prop one end against a truck bed, vet table, or top step. Animals can walk up or down at a gentle incline, instead of struggling, jumping, or being lifted. The Folding 70" Pet Ramp by PetSTEP is an excellent item for newborn or older animals as well as for pets that require special care and attention. This ramp makes an excellent addition to any home with pets.

To use, simply unfold the ramp and prop one end against a truck bed, vet table, or top step. Animals can walk up or down at a gentle incline, instead of struggling, jumping, or being lifted. With its sturdy structure and rubberized surface, the ramp helps reduce arthritis and dysplasia pain, lowers the chances of injury, and cuts down on back strain. The nonslip grip is compatible with virtually all edges. In addition to its primary function, the PetSTEP ramp has any number of secondary uses. It folds for storage, but because it is solid, it does take up a good deal of space even in it's folded state. However, my 70 pound dog feels confident going up and down, so for my purposes, it's bulky design is an acceptable trade-off. I think that it is heavy, but again, it's a trade-off -- nothing flimsy about this product.
Definitely take the time to acclimate your pet to use of a ramp. I left mine flat for a day and led my dog over it using treats. (At first, she didn't know what to do with it and kept hopping over it -- once she understood that she was supposed to walk on it, she happily obliged -- anything for treats!)
The next day, I set it up on a shallow/low retaining wall and "blocked" the sides using boxes that were taller than the ramp. She followed the ramp to get the kibble that I trailed up and down. She was comfortable with it after a few 10 minute play sessions and was happily running up and down without needing to be directed onto it. It wasn't until she was confident on the shallow incline that I led her into our vehicles with it.
The top is too wide for the door of my compact suv (older model RAV4) but works great for the back. There is a door attachment, but I don't have it so can't comment on it's effectiveness.
The ramp works without attachments for both the door and the truck bed of our larger Tundra ... though the incline is quite steep when using it to allow her into the bed -- so we are more careful to guide her up & down so that she doesn't fall. (She loves hanging out with us up there when we get ice cream!)
My Rottie is only about three years old but she is having problems with her joints. She has inflammatory bowel disease, so she is on a high dose of prednisone to suppress her symptoms. Unfortunately, this high dose of prednisone has resulted in a significant loss of muscle mass (over 10 pounds lost). This resulting loss in muscle mass has made her knees less stable. She had a torn CCL (a ligament equivalent, basically, to the ACL in a human) in one knee and she tore the CCL in her other knee by overusing the "good" knee. So she has a whole host of problems to deal with. Plus, I just moved into a house a few weeks ago, and it has some kind of steep front steps. My dog is having a lot of trouble negotiating these steps, especially with her knee injuries. So I wanted a ramp to make it easier on her.
My dog weighs about 82 pounds right now. This ramp holds her weight although it (the ramp) is maybe a little flexible. It is certainly not appropriate for a person to walk on (I tried), but the way a dog's weight is distributed is different from a human's, and this held up my dog perfectly well. There are rubberized ridges all up and down the face of the ramp, so the dog doesn't slip at all. The width is perfectly fine for a dog the size of mine. And this sits securely on my step -- it's been there all day and hasn't moved an inch.
This weighs under 20 pounds so I don't find it too heavy (a box of cat litter weighs more, by comparison). Of course, since I am using it at my house, it is staying in place and I am not having to transport it. It folds and unfolds easily.
As for getting the dog to use it, mine picked it up very quickly. (I'm actually quite proud of her...) The first three time, she wouldn't use it. The fourth time, I put some kibble on the ramp (spread out from top to bottom) and she walked up the ramp, eating the kibble. Since, she has gone up and down numerous times -- all with kibble on the ramp at this point. Eventually I am going to stop using the kibble, but for right now, she needs that little extra incentive. Still, I was encouraged by how quickly she understood what to do.
This is a neutral color. One thing to note: a large portion of mine was discolored (yellowish instead of brown). This did not affect the quality or performance so I plan to just use the ramp as-is.
This is so much easier on her knees, and I love that she can't slip.
After reading review of this and other products, I chose the Petstep. There is nothing to do for assembly, although it was delivered with bracing that allows you to lock the unit in the unfolded position. It is slightly awkward to fold and unfold, but given what it is designed to do, I can't imagine any way to build it that would make it easier, except perhaps to add handles to the sides.
The unit folds and unfolds pretty easily. There is a spring loop catch to hold it closed. I don't know how long that will last, but it seems adequate. It is not so heavy that lifting it into the car is a problem. I usually put the dogs in the cargo area and then the ramp fits on the floor of the back seat.
The ramps is pretty solid when unfolded. The treads are rubberized for traction. The unit is rated for 250 or 300 pounds, so I decided to try it myself. At 200 pounds, when I walked up it, it felt a bit unstable, especially at the center. For the dog, though, it is perfectly adequate.
I did not find much merit to those who claim there is a pinching hazard. It would be odd to have your fingers placed anywhere near the crush points while folding this. And there are clear labels warning of the hazard.
Top reviews from other countries
I recommend this ramp if you're looking for a good quality one that your dog will trust to go up and down.
