Review: WOpet Soft-Sided Small Dog Carrier

One of the greatest benefits of owning a small dog is having the ability to easily travel with your pooch. A pet carrier for dogs is the easiest way to tote your pup along with you on planes, trains and in your own vehicle.

Some of these dog carriers are very expensive, while others, like this one from WOpet, are quite affordable for pet parents on a budget. But does a more affordable price mean a cheaper quality product? I this soft sided small dog carrier review, I'll discuss its advantages and drawbacks in more detail.

WOpet Soft-Sided Small Dog Carrier ReviewTo start off, I have to say that I was surprised with the quality of this small dog carrier for the price it costs compared to many other pet carriers. However, it isn't without its flaws.

When choosing a dog carrier you need to base your selection on the needs of your pet and the traveling that you'll be doing. You need to make sure that whichever carrier you choose is comfortable for you and your dog.

You also need to make sure that your carrier is approved for the mode of travel that you'll be taking. If you're going by car, make sure the carrier can be properly secured in a vehicle. If you'll be taking a plane, train or bus, make sure that the carrier you choose fits the regulations for your mode of travel.

WOpet Soft-Sided Small Dog Carrier Review

WOpet Soft-Sided Small Dog Carrier

This first thing you're going to notice about this carrier is that it is MUCH cheaper than most similar products. You can pick it up on Amazon for just $32. Of course, I was skeptical about it's quality at first, because of the price. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality.

It certainly isn't top of the line, but it's well made and the stitching is durable. It has all the amenities of a more expensive dog carrier, but you can certainly see why it doesn't cost as much. For example, it does come with a soft pad to keep your dog comfy while he's inside the carrier, but it's very thin and won't offer your Fido any support.

As I mention in my video, the company does state that this soft-sided dog carrier is airline compliant, but you still want to be cautious. Before you buy this, or any other carrier, to take your pet on an airplane, check the regulations of the airline that you're planning to fly with. These regulations change all the time, and sadly, just because a company says their product is compliant, doesn't always mean that it is.

You can see that this dog carrier is equipped with a short handle as well as a longer luggage strap that is easily adjustable.

It also has mesh paneling on three sides for ventilation. You can access your dog through the top of the carrier or the front. As I show you in my video, both open very easily via a durable zipper.

The exact dimensions of the carrier are 41 cm X 28 cm X 28 cm.

It does fold up easily for storage, which is a nice bonus if you won't be using it a lot. This is also a benefit that soft-sided carriers have over hard carriers.

This small dog carrier from WOpet is also equipped with a luggage tag that has space for your name, address, phone number and other important information.

In my video I also show you the three small pockets and one small zippered pocket on the side of the carrier. They are great for toting along your dog's essentials, like a leash or treats, but they are very small. It certainly saves the trouble of having to tout around your soft-sided dog crates everywhere you go. Don't plan on putting all your canine companion's belongings in there.

For the price, you really won't find a better soft-sided carrier for your pet, but I wouldn't recommend it to dog owners who frequently travel with their pup. This carrier does not provide the stability that you'll get from similar products of better quality. In my photos you can see that one side of the carrier doesn't stand up straight.

If you're only traveling with your dog for short trips or you don't travel frequently, you could definitely make this soft carrier work, but you'll want to find a carrier with more sturdy boning if you'll be traveling a long distance or if you travel with your dog frequently.
