Review: OxyFresh Dental Care Solution for Dogs

Taking your dog's dental health seriously is very important. Poor dental health has been linked to some other very serious healthy issues. OxyFresh Dental Care Solution makes it easy to care for your dog's oral health, but it should not be used as an alternative to brushing.

Most pet owners do not realize how common periodontal disease is. For this reason, they don't take veterinarians seriously when they recommend daily teeth brushing. But, brushing for just a few minutes every day could have long term health benefits that dog owners don't realize.

According to the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC):

OxyFresh Dental Care Solution“The real problem develops as plaque and calculus spread under the gum line. Bacteria in this ‘sub-gingival’ plaque set in motion a cycle of damage to the supporting tissues around the tooth, eventually leading to loss of the tooth. Bacteria under the gum line secrete toxins, which contribute to the tissue damage if untreated. These bacteria also stimulate the animal’s immune system. The initial changes cause white blood cells and inflammatory chemical signals to move into the periodontal space (between the gum or bone and the tooth). The function of the white blood cells is to destroy the bacterial invaders, but chemicals released by the overwhelmed white blood cells cause damage to the supporting tissues of the tooth. Instead of helping the problem, the patient’s own protective system actually worsens the disease when there is severe build-up of plaque and tartar.”

No commercial product should be a substitute for daily brushing. However, OxyFresh Dental Care Solution is formulated to help fight and tartar buildup between brushings. I have been using this product with our dogs for a few weeks, and this review shares my honest opinion of the product.

OxyFresh Dental Care Solution Review

OxyFresh Dental Care SolutionAs I mentioned, OxyFresh Dental Care Solution is formulated to fight plaque and tartar buildup. This helps to reduce bad breath and the threat of periodontal disease, as well as strengthen the gum tissue.

If you watch my video review above, you will see that our dogs have no aversion to drinking water with this additive in it. It is tasteless and odorless. There are no artificial dyes, fragrances or flavorings.

OxyFresh Dental Care SolutionOxyFresh is safe for dogs, cats, birds and other animals, making it ideal for multi-pet households.

I was concerned about the safety of this water additive, but it is 100% non-toxic. It's also alcohol and paraben free. The ingredients include: Water, Oxygene (stabilized chlorine dioxide), Zinc Acetate, Sodium Citrate, Chlorophylin-Copper Complex, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Hydroxide, Citric Acid and Potassium Sorbate.

You may have noticed that the second ingredient listed is Oxygene. Oxygene neutralizes bad breath at a molecular level. It does this by dissolving the bonds of sulfur compounds that case bad breath. OxyFresh Dental Care Solution is also made in the USA.

OxyFresh Dental Care SolutionIt's easy to give this solution to your pup. All you have to do is add 1 cap full to 1/4 gallon (34 ounces) of water. Every time you rinse out Fido's water bowl and refill it, just add a cap full of OxyFresh. It's that simple!

I measured out a cap full, and it's about 2 teaspoons of liquid. There are 6 teaspoons in an ounce, so I estimate that there are about 3 doses of this water additive in an ounce. You can purchase a 16-ounce bottle on Amazon for $16.49.

By doing the math, I estimate there are about 48 doses per bottle. That's about $0.34 per dose. Now, keeping in mind that I brush our dogs' teeth every other day, I didn't notice any reduction in the plaque on their teeth. However, I did notice their breath is better since adding this additive to their water.

If you don't keep up with your dog's dental health on a regular basis or you're looking for a treatment for Fido's funky breath, I would recommend trying OxyFresh Dental Care Solution. Keep in mind that this water additive (or any other solution for that matter) should not be used as a substitute for regular brushing.
