Review: PetSafe CozyUp Bed Ramp for Dogs

Small breeds, senior pets, and dogs recovering from an injury need the help of a ramp to reach vehicles, beds, and other furniture. Most pet owners don't think about the need for a pet ramp until their dog requires one. But did you know that products like the PetSafe CozyUp Bed Ramp are actually beneficial for dogs of every breed and age?

Studies have found that jumping on and off high surfaces takes a great toll on a dog's body over time. It causes injury and deterioration of the joints that could lead to long-term injury and/or arthritis. Providing a ramp for your dog to access high areas is a quick and easy way to prevent this problem.

PetSafe CozyUp Bed Ramp for Dogs and Cats - Durable Frame Supports up to 120lb - Furniture Grade Wood Pet Ramp with Cherry Finish - High-Traction Carpet Surface, Great for Older Animals When shopping for a dog ramp, it is important to choose a product that is the appropriate size for your pet. The ramp shouldn't be too steep, and there should be carpeting or some type of material that offers good traction to reduce the risk of slipping.

You'll need to check the weight limit on the ramp as well to ensure that it can support your pup properly. The PetSafe CozyUp Bed Ramp is a good option for small, medium, and large breeds. Keep reading to find out how durable the ramp is and whether or not I believe it's a good value for the money.

PetSafe CozyUp Bed Ramp for Dogs Review

PetSafe CozyUp Bed Ramp for Dogs ReviewAs you can see in my photos, this ramp is ideal for my Beagle, Molly. It also works well for my 75-pound Labrador. I have a larger size, which can hold dogs weighing up to 120 pounds. There is also a smaller option (CozyUp Sofa Ramp) available that is suitable for dogs weighing up to 100 pounds.

The measurements of the ramps are:

  • 45″L x 14″W x 14″H
  • 70″L x 16″W x 25″H

The PetSafe CozyUp Bed Ramp is available in a white or cherry finish. Both feature non-slip carpeting covering. I prefer the aesthetics of a wooden ramp over a plastic option. They blend in with virtually any décor and generally look better in most situations.

Assembly is required with this product, but it comes with easy-to-follow instructions. It took me about 20 minutes to put it together on my own. It would definitely go quicker if you had someone to help you assemble it.

The ramp is wide enough for our large breed, but it is missing a couple of key safety features that I was hoping for. First, there are no side railings on this ramp. As I mentioned, it's definitely wide enough, but I worry about one of our dogs slipping off the side if they're not paying attention.

As I demonstrate in my video review above, there is also no gripping material on the bottom of the ramp. It stays in place on carpeting, but it slides around on my laminate flooring. The ramp is pushed up against a wall in my house. If you're planning on using it in the middle of a room, you should consider buying grippers for the bottom to ensure it doesn't slide out from underneath your dog.

You can buy the PetSafe CozyUp Bed Ramp for $124.99 on Amazon right now. The Sofa Ramp sells for $109.99. I would like to see more safety features for this price, but it is a durable and sturdy ramp that will last for many years.
