Review: KONG Box Subscription Box

KONG dog toys have a great reputation and are well-known for their durability. Pet owners who have trouble finding chew toys that will stand up to aggressive chewers are encouraged by veterinarians and dog trainers to try toys from KONG. Now, the company has release the KONG Box, a subscription box that includes some of their most popular products.

It's hard to find chew toys for dogs that are aggressive, power chewers. It's frustrating to spend money on toys and chews that your dog is able to ruin within a matter of minutes. If you have a power chewer, you've probably had some experience with KONG products.

Chewing is nature's way of helping your dog keep his teeth clean and his jaws strong. Chewing is also fun for your dog, and provides the mental stimulation that he needs. Some dogs also use chewing as a means to combat anxiety and stress.

If the dog toys that you choose won't stand up to your dog's jaws, they don't provide enough of a challenge to keep him entertained. If he can shred a plush toy in minutes, you need step up your dog toy buying game. The KONG Box is an easy way to ensure that your pup has new toys each month that will stand up to his aggressive chewing style.

KONG Box Subscription Box Review

KONG Box ReviewEach KONG Box holds more than $75 worth of products. In your first box, you will receive a free KONG Classic Toy (pictured above). Every box includes:

  • 1 KONG rubber toy
  • 1 KONG non-rubber toy
  • 3 KONG treats
  • 1 KONG recipe with tips based on your dog's personality profile

You can customize the box for one of the following allergies: beef, chicken, pork, dairy, peanut butter or gluten/grain. Your dog's personality profile includes information about his size, age and behavior issues. You can also upgrade to the “Extreme Chewer” box for an additional cost.

I'm very happy with my KONG Box, and so are my dogs. As you can see in my video review above, they love the toys and treats included in our first box. They started chewing as soon as I opened the package.

The most unique feature (and my favorite thing about this box) is that you can order special “Solution Boxes” designed to help dogs with some of the most common behavior problems. You can select a box designed for:

  • separation anxiety
  • teething
  • weight management
  • crate training
  • boredom
  • chewing
  • barking and digging

I've tested more than a dozen dog subscription boxes, and this is the first one that I've found that can be specifically catered for dogs with behavioral needs. KONG products are typically more expensive than lower quality dog products, so I wasn't surprised to find out that the KONG Box is a little bit more pricey than other dog subscription boxes.

You can subscribe to the KONG Box through the company's website. For a month-to-month subscription, it costs $49.95 per box. A 6-month subscription costs $44.95 per month, and a 12-month subscription is $39.95 per box.

While it is more expensive than most other boxes, the products that you receive are KONG quality. The toys are more durable, and the treats are made with safe ingredients. The value of the products inside is greater than the price that you pay for the subscription, so this box is still a good value for the money spent.
