Best Dog Subscription Box 2020

Monthly subscription boxes for dogs are all the rage these days.

General subscription box services have been around for years, but these boxes have gained popularity among pet owners in the last two years.

We've set out to order, test, and review these services to find the best dog subscription box and compare our top choices against each other.

When you sign up for monthly subscription boxes for dogs, they send you a package once a month filled with pet products that they choose for you.

You get subscription boxes filled with dog food, toys, treats, clothes, and other dog supplies.

The best dog subscription box will deliver the highest quality dog products for the best price.

There are dozens of monthly subscription boxes for dogs right now, and it took us a few months of research, ordering, receiving, and then going through all of them to figure out which boxes are worth including on this list.

Using Dog Subscription Box Services

Some pet owners are worried that they may receive pet products they won't actually use, and I was, too.

Who wants to spend money on something that they will end up throwing out or giving away?

What if you receive products that aren't suitable for your dog?

If he's a power chewer and you get soft plush toys, he'll ruin them in a matter of minutes.

Hence, my venture into trying these dog subscription boxes, buying most of them, and doing a full dog subscription box review for every brand.

Ideally, the best dog subscription box will meet your needs and fit your budget.

There are boxes that will ship dog food, toys, treats, training products, and even beneficial supplements for your pet.

For the purpose of this comparison, I wanted to review boxes that all sent similar products.

I have to admit that I didn't realize how many options there were out there when it came to subscription boxes for dogs and their owners.

I had heard of a few companies, but once I started researching, I realized there were dozens and dozens of choices.

So, how do you choose the one that is right for your pet?

I'm going to give you all the details about the advantages and disadvantages of each box below.

I'll also share information on subscription costs and whether or not the products you'll receive are a good value for the money spent.

How to Pick the Best Dog Subscription Box for You

How to Pick the Best Dog Subscription Box for You

I have to admit, I didn't know there were so many options for dog subscription boxes before I started researching products for this review.

As I looked through the many options available, I began to realize that there were many different features that would make one box better than another.

As I mentioned, ensuring that the products are going to be useful should be your top priority.

While some dogs are pretty easy to shop for because they don't have food allergies or toy preferences, others require specialized items.

If your dog falls into the latter category, you'll need to be sure that you can customize the products that come in your monthly subscription box.

Even if the products are going to be suitable for your canine companion, you also need to be sure that you will use enough of the products to warrant a monthly delivery.

For example, some dog subscription boxes send 2-3 bags of dog treats each month.

If you only feed your dog a treat once per day, you won't go through 3 bags per month.

However, if you have multiple dogs or you use dog treats for training, you'll definitely use enough to make it worth it.

Choose a subscription with a delivery option that works for you.

The box dog subscription box will offer a delivery method that meets your needs.

While some only deliver once per month, others have options for bi-monthly and quarterly delivery.

Finally, any best dog subscription box needs to be affordable.

Keep in mind that these boxes offer different types of products, so you have to keep the value of the products in mind when comparing the cost.

Why You Should Trust My Picks

I'm certainly no expert on subscription boxes, and I'm not associated with any companies that sell them.

But, I have been using different dog products for decades, and I have been reviewing pet products for more than 5 years.

During this time, I have tested thousands of products made specifically for dogs.

I've been a dog owner since I was born and a freelance writer on all things dog for nearly a decade, which has allowed me to polish my research skills and develop a keen eye for what to look for in pet products, how to rate and rank them in terms of price-to-value ratio, and how to thoroughly research products before making a purchase.

As you well know, purchasing products for your own pet can be quite a chore.

Over the years, I have become an expert at making smart purchases for my dogs.

Quality is always my top concern, and I compare the price to the value of the product to make sure that my money is well spent. That's what I bring into these dog supplies reviews. I take the responsibility of ensuring that anyone looking for a good dog product doesn't waste their cash very seriously.

When I do these reviews, I research the products like I would if I were buying them for my own pets.

I want to make sure that the products that I recommend are top quality and will last throughout your dog's lifetime.

I take a lot of pride in ensuring that the products I recommend are some of the best on the market, and these reviews are not something I take lightly.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, here are my top 10 picks for the best dog subscription box.

Top 10 Best Dog Subscription Box Services

Pet Treated Dog Subscription Box

1 Pet Treater
The Overall Best Subscription Box

Order it here
Price:
$15-$25

Pet Treater includes a variety of products in their monthly subscription boxes for dogs.

You'll receive 7-9 items every month, including dog toys, treats, pet accessories, and a little gift for you personally, too!

As I've explained in my older review, I've received a few Pet Treater subscription boxes over the last few months (see me unboxing those on our YouTube channel), and I've gotten a cinch backpack, a package of delicious berry-flavored tea and a baking sheet with paw print molds for myself, along with all of the great dog supplies.

If you follow my reviews, you know that we have dogs and cats in our home.

A lot of dog owners have multi-pet homes, and Pet Treater offers options for homes like ours.

They have boxes for dogs and cats, and you can also add multiple pets to your subscription or sign up for a dog/cat box to get additional items for all of your furry family members.

All the treats included in this best dog subscription box are made in the USA or Canada, so you don't need to worry about products from China being included.

The toys included in these boxes are well-made, but they aren't for power chewers.

If your dog is an aggressive chewer, you need to take a look at the best dog subscription box for power chewers included later in this list.

While it does offer great value, the Pet Treater box also comes with limited customization options.

They will select products based on your dog's size, and the company also allows you to input any allergies that your dog may have.

It would be nice if you could also request products that are suitable for your dog's coat type, age, gender, or chewing type.

Now, as I mentioned, you will receive 7-9 items for your pet in the Pet Treater box.

You can subscribe for just $15 to $25 per month, and shipping is FREE!

For well-made toys and healthy treats, that's a very good deal.

I've received 4 of these boxes so far, and I've always felt like the products included in the box were a good value.

Surprise Pawty Monthly Dog Box

2 Surprise Pawty Monthly Dog Box
The Best for Healthy Products

UPDATE (November 2023): This subscription service is no longer available.

You'll find 5-6 items each month in the Surprise Pawty dog subscription box, including toys, chews, innovative products, essentials (like grooming products), treats, and accessories. The contents of each monthly box is $50+.

As I've said before, the Surprise Pawty dog subscription box is my choice if you want to make sure that your dog is receiving safe, healthy products in every delivery.

Surprise Pawty only includes all-natural and organic dog treats that are always made in the USA.

They also make sure that any grooming products or toys included in the boxes are safe and effective.

Many of the products you get in this box are also eco-friendly!

My favorite thing about this subscription dog box is that each product is guaranteed.

If you're not satisfied or have a problem with any item in the box, you can send it back, and they'll send you another product that is more suitable for your dog.

I always enjoy doing business with companies that stand behind their products, and Surprise Pawty is one of them.

I'm also happy with the customization options that are available with this best dog subscription box.

The items in your box will be tailored to your dog's size, gender, coat type, allergies/sensitivities, and chewing type.

The Surprise Pawty box is priced a little higher than the average monthly subscription box for dogs, but remember that it offers more customization options and higher quality products than most comparable options.

Like other similar products, the price varies depending on the length of the subscription that you sign up for.

Keep in mind that another reason for the added cost is that a portion of the proceeds are donated to shelters, rescues, and other non-profit organizations that care for animals.

BarkBox Dog Subscription box

3 BarkBox
The Best Cost-to-Value Dog Box

Order it here
PRICE:
$20-$35 per month

It's no secret that BarkBox is the most well-known dog subscription box.

While this dog box is very popular, cost-effective, and does contain some useful pet products, its only disadvantage is that it doesn't offer a lot of customization options.

However, it's also one of the cheaper dog subscription boxes that I've included.

In my review, I mentioned that every month, you will receive at least 2 innovative toys, 2 all-natural bags of dog treats, and 1 chew in a BarkBox dog subscription box.

The only option available currently is to subscribe for monthly deliveries, but there are other similar boxes that allow for by-monthly or quarterly deliveries if you would like more products each month or you don't think you'd use that many products every 30 days.

The thing that sets the BarkBox apart from the other best dog subscription box options is their monthly themes.

Past themes have included a box with New York-themed items, a jungle-themed box, and a Throwbark Thursday box.

These fun themes make the BarkBox a great gift, but unfortunately, you can only customize the products for your dog's size.

This best dog subscription box would rank much higher on my list if you could customize it to meet your dog's allergy and food sensitivity needs.

The box that I show in my review is the classic BarkBox.

It included two plush toys, and while I can say that they were well made for plush toys, they were still just plush toys.

If your dog is an aggressive/power chewer or a dog that enjoys shredding toys, the classic BarkBox won't be a good choice.

Thankfully, the company has two other options for tough chewers.

The heavy chewer box includes more durable toys with the same theme, and you can upgrade to it for FREE!

Other best dog subscription box companies increase the price for boxes made for heavy chewers, so this is a nice bonus for dog owners on a budget.

The toys in these boxes are made with stronger materials — like puncture-resistant, ballistic-grade nylon, and tough rubber.

They also offer the super chewer box.

With this option, your dog gets heavy-duty chews, all-natural treats, and challenging, strong toys.

Plus, BarkBox also offers a guarantee that if your pooch is able to ruin one of these toys, they'll send you a new one.

The company's website doesn't state the time frame to claim this guarantee, but I'm sure there are stipulations on the length of time that you have to make the return.

As I mentioned, this great dog subscription box is one of the cheapest options on the market — if you order the classic box, of course.

The Super Chewer BarkBox monthly subscription boxes for dogs are more expensive, which is to be expected because you'll get far more durable dog toys and chews.

Prices for the BarkBox subscription boxes are:

  • $35 per month for a 1-month subscription ($39 for the super chewer box)
  • $25 per month for a 6-month subscription ($34 for the super chewer box)
  • $20 per month for a 12-month subscription ($29 for the super chewer box)

If you'd like to add an extra toy to every box, you can do so for an additional $9 monthly.

The Dapper Dog Box

4 The Dapper Dog
The Most Original Dog Box

UPDATE (November 2023): This subscription service is no longer available.

The Dapper Box includes 5 items every month that have an average value of $60.

The products will be 2 treats, 2 toys, and a bandanna.

All treats included are 100% natural, organic, or grain-free and made in the USA. They are also free of artificial preservatives, fillers, corn, and soy.

As I've mentioned before, every purchase of The Dapper Dog Box supports rescue organizations and shelters in the United States.

There is also an option for a Heavy Chewer dog subscription box. These boxes include 2-3 toys that are not plush, like rubber, rope, nylon, chew toys, and bully sticks.

You will never receive rawhide or bones in The Dapper Dog Box.

If a toy in the Heavy Chewer box is destroyed within 10 days of receipt, they will send you a replacement for free.

As with many dog subscription boxes, you can customize this one based on your dog's needs.

You can personalize the box based on your pup's size, chewing style, and allergy preferences.

Similar to other dog subscription box models, the price of The Dapper Dog Box decreases if you subscribe for a longer period of time.

This box is very comparable in price to other dog subscription boxes.

Considering the quality of the products included, I would say The Dapper Dog Box is a good value for the price spent.

Jadeys JuJu Dog Dog Subscription Box

5 Jadeys JuJu
The Best Ethically Sourced Dog Box

UPDATE (November 2023): This subscription service is no longer available.

Most subscription boxes partner with companies that agree to include their products in the box.

They may choose these products based on a low cost because that means they can make a higher profit.

Many companies will offer a good deal in order to market their products to the large audience that will receive the boxes.

In my review, I demonstrate how Jadeys JuJu includes only high-end, ethically sourced products.

They claim to thoroughly research every company they work with to ensure they are delivering top-of-the-line products to their subscribers.

Every box includes 2-3 treats, 2-3 toys, 1-2 chews, 1 roll of dog poop bags, 1 supplement, 1 surprise for your pup, and 1 surprise for the owner.

Boxes are currently available for dogs, cats, and horses.

The treats included are always all-natural and/or organic.

And, one of the best things about this box is that a portion of the proceeds are donated to 501 c3 pet rescue organizations.

You can find more information about the organizations that receive donations from Jadeys JuJu on the company's site.

I was impressed by the options offered by Jadeys JuJu.

Not only are the boxes available for multiple animals, but you can also have the boxes delivered quarterly instead of monthly if you prefer.

This is a great option for dog owners who don't need 7-10 pet products each month.

There is also an option to try a sample box (or send one as a gift) before committing to a subscription. The sample box includes 5-6 items instead of 7-10.

The drawback to this subscription box is that it is currently a one-size-fits-most product.

Other similar companies offer options to customize the boxes based on your dog's size, breed, chewing preferences, etc.

While they don't offer an option to customize the box for pets with allergies, they do stipulate that they are diligent about staying away from products made with common allergy-causing ingredients.

Jadeys JuJu is a brand new company, and they're not yet offering any customization options.

However, I hope to see them add these options in the future.

According to the company's website, they have many ideas in the works, so I'll be sure to keep watching Jadeys JuJu and update you when there are new options available.

Now, every good review discusses the value of the product, so let's get to it.

If you'd like to subscribe to receive a Jadeys JuJu dog subscription box, it will cost you $59.99 per box plus shipping.

This is more expensive than most other dog subscription boxes, but you have to keep in mind the quality of the products included in the box.

Natural, ethically sourced products are more expensive to purchase, which increases the cost of the box.

You also receive 7-10 items per box, which is slightly more than the average included in other similar subscription boxes.

Overall, I think the Jadeys JuJu box is a good value for the money. It's also one of the only dog subscription box companies that focuses on high-end products.

If ethically sourced, high-quality products are important to you, this box is going to offer exactly what you're looking for.

PupJoy dog subscription box

6 PupJoy
The Best Dog Box for Customization

Order it here
PRICE:
Starts at $32.99 per month

You will find 2 full-size bags of limited-ingredient treats, 2 artisan-quality toys, and 1 all-natural chew in every PupJoy box.

They guarantee that you'll get at least $45 worth of products in each box.

There is also an option to order a Grande Box, which includes an extra bag of treats and a second chew.

This is a great option for multi-dog families and pet owners who have large breeds with a big appetite.

I've mentioned in my older review that PupJoy completely understands that every dog is different and has their own unique needs.

They allow you to customize their monthly subscription boxes for dogs to meet all of your Fido's needs as well as your own.

The PupJoy dog subscription box offers more customization options than any other similar product.

My favorite option is the ability to choose a box with all toys or all treats.

I make homemade treats for my dogs, so we don't use very many commercial treats.

It would take us a month just to go through one bag of treats, so I'd have to give the other bag to a family member or friend.

Likewise, if you have a dog that doesn't really enjoy playing with toys or just carries them around and doesn't go through many toys, the option of an all-treat box would be a nice choice to have.

This top-rated dog subscription box also allows you to select products for regular or power chewers. The box shown in my review is for regular chewers.

If you think the toys that I show would be easily destroyed by your pooch, the power chewer box would be a better choice.

Most owners are concerned about the quality and healthiness of the dog treats they feed their pets.

PupJoy has an option for that, too!

They allow you to select from all-natural, organic, grain-free, and protein-sensitive dog treats.

These boxes are also customized based on your dog’s size, and PupJoy offers more size options than any other company that I’ve seen.

Sizing options include:

  • Small
  • Medium
  • Large

You can also choose whether all plush toys or a variety of different types of toys would be best for your dog.

Some dogs enjoy the softness of plush toys, and they carry them around or snuggle with them.

If your dog enjoys playing tug with a rope toy or jumping in the water to chase after a plastic toy, signing up for the variety box will be the choice you want to make.

Finally, you can also choose how often you receive your PupJoy monthly subscription boxes for dogs.

This company offers monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly delivery.

There are a couple of other similar boxes that offer this flexible delivery schedule as well.

It's a great feature for owners who would like to receive products more often or don't go through enough toys and treats to require a delivery every month.

I expected that a pet subscription box that offered so many options – many of which are not offered by any other company – would be more expensive than other dog subscription boxes on the market.

Surprisingly, this best dog subscription box is very reasonably priced.

The subscription prices for the PupJoy Variety box are quite comparable to similar boxes. They are:

  • $32.99-$34.99 for a 1-month subscription
  • $89.99-$95.99 for a 3-month subscription
  • $173.99-$185.99 for a 6-month subscription
  • $335.99-$359.99 for a 12-month subscription

Shipping is also included free of charge for all U.S. locations, but it will cost you $5 extra every month for shipping to Canada.

PupBox Monthly Dog Box

7 PupBox
The Best Box for Puppies

Order it here
PRICE:
$22-$39 per month

Puppies, while a wonderful addition to your family, can be extremely overwhelming.

You have to buy all of the supplies they'll need, clean up after all of their messes, and work hard to train them if you want a well-behaved adult dog in the future.

PupBox understands that most owners need help when it comes to raising their new furry family member.

In all of my research, this is the only dog subscription box that I could find that is specifically made for puppies.

They choose treats, toys, chews, and accessories that are appropriate for your developing pup.

In my older review, I said that the best part of the PupBox dog subscription box is that they include specific training information that will help you work with your puppy on a level that is appropriate for his age.

While the products are great, I was really impressed to see the training card that is included in every monthly box.

Puppy training can be very overwhelming, and there is a lot of misinformation out there that can be confusing to new puppy parents.

Quite often, new puppy owners are surprised with the amount of time they need to invest in training.

They can also be confused about the process of dog training and what types of training (obedience, command, boundary, etc.) are appropriate at which age.

These laminated training sheets offer information created by celebrity dog trainer Andrea Arden.

The training guide discusses the changes that you’re likely to see in your puppy at his current age and walks you through everything you need to know to train and keep up with your new companion.

When you subscribe, you'll input your puppy's birthday and get products and training advice specific to your pup's monthly development.

I was really impressed to see that the PupBox addresses this struggle to help educate puppy owners.

For me, it's worth subscribing just for the individualized puppy training advice! Of course, you’ll also receive treats, toys, chews, and accessories that are suitable for puppies.

The PupBox can be customized according to your pet’s:

  • age
  • gender
  • target adult weight
  • coat type

This box is a little bit more expensive than other monthly subscription boxes for dogs, but, as I mentioned, it’s currently the only one available that offers training advice and products customized for young puppies.

The subscription cost for this box gets cheaper the longer that you subscribe, like all of the best dog subscription box options. The prices are:

  • $39 per month for a 1-month subscription
  • $34 per month for a 3-month subscription
  • $32 per month for a 6-month subscription
  • $22 per month for a 12-month subscription

Shipping is free to all U.S. locations, but it will cost an additional $7 per month for shipping to Canada.

Bullymake dog subscription box

8 Bullymake Box
The Best for Aggressive Chewers

Order it here
PRICE:
$31-$39 per month

We have a power chewer at home, so I know how hard it is to find strong dog toys and chews that will hold up to these types of dogs.

When I began thinking about the different types of monthly subscription boxes for dogs that I wanted to include on this list, I knew there needed to be an option for aggressive chewers.

If your dog shreds plush toys within a matter of minutes, you've lived with the same frustration that I have.

I can't stand spending money on dog toys just to see my girls rip them to shreds minutes, hours, or even just a few days after I buy them.

I want toys that will last, and the Bullmake box is one of the only dog subscription boxes that offer toys that stand up to my girls.

As I showed in a previous review, every Bullymake Box contains 2-3 durable toys and 3-4 bags of dog treats. They even manufacture some of the toys and treats themselves.

Bullymake is so confident about the durability of the toys that they include that they will send you a tougher replacement if your dog is able to destroy one within 14 days of receiving your monthly box.

The treats included in these boxes are always 100% natural. You can also customize the products you receive based on your dog's weight and allergy preferences.

The two toys that came in my Bullymake Box are very durable. The rubber coffee cup toy is still holding up well nearly 3 months after receiving the box.

The nylon wishbone toy lasted for about 2 months, but our big girl was finally able to ruin it.

I would like this box better if there were a few more customization options.

For instance, I make a lot of homemade treats for dogs and it would be nice to have the option of an all-toy box.

Or, an option to add an additional toy each month for an extra cost would be nice, too (which is an option that some similar subscription boxes offer).

This popular dog subscription box is more expensive than most of the other options on this list.

However, that’s understandable, considering toys and chews for power chewers are made of more durable, high-quality materials, which means they are more expensive.

A subscription to Bullymake Box costs:

  • $39 per month for a 1-month subscription
  • $36 per month for a 3-month subscription
  • $34 per month for a 6-month subscription
  • $31 per month for a 12-month subscription

Shipping to any location in the U.S. is free, but it will cost $8 extra each month to ship to Canada.

There are also global shipping options available, but the prices vary depending on the shipping location.

Blockhead Box

9 Blockhead Box

UPDATE (November 2023): This subscription service is no longer available.

Here's another option for power/aggressive chewers. This dog subscription box includes dog toys, treats, and chews, plus there is a gift for you in every box!

Like the Pet Treater box mentioned above, there is a surprise for the pet owner in these Blockhead monthly subscription boxes for dogs as well as all the goodies for your pooch.

I received a T-shirt in mine, and you may also get a hat or other gear.

I've previously gone through this in my older review, and the Blockhead Box can be customized based on your dog’s size and allergy preferences. You can also request the T-shirt size that you'd like to receive.

The toys I received in my Blockhead Box weren't as durable as those I got in my Bullymake Box (mentioned above).

The football toy was made of tough plastic, but it was still quite flexible.

My dogs were able to destroy it about 2 weeks after we got the box.

The KONG toy has a durable nylon covering that held up with our dogs for over a month. That's not too bad, but it wasn't as long as the Bullymake toys.

Likewise, in comparison, the Bullymake Box offers a 14-day guarantee on their dog toys, but this subscription dog box only has a 10-day guarantee.

If your dog ruins a toy within 10 days of receiving the box, they'll send you another toy for free.

Unlike the Bullymake Box, a portion of the proceeds from every Blockhead monthly subscription box for dogs is donated to help rescue organizations, humane law enforcement, and humane education to combat illegal dog fighting and animal cruelty.

While they do give some of the proceeds to charity, the monthly cost of this best dog subscription box is also higher than many other dog subscription box options.

You also need to remember that the Blockhead Box includes higher quality, more durable toys, which is another reason it is more expensive.

The subscription cost is:

  • $39.95 per month for a 1-month subscription
  • $38 per month for a 3-month subscription
  • $36 per month for a 6-month subscription
  • $35 per month for a 12-month subscription

Shipping to locations in the United States is free, but it will cost $12 to ship to Canada and $25 for shipping to other international locations.

Surprise My Pet dog subscription box

10 Surprise My Pet

UPDATE (November 2023): This subscription service is no longer available.

I was really interested in checking out this pet subscription box because the company was recently purchased by new owners, and they started to make changes.

The more I learned about the company and the monthly subscription boxes for dogs they now make, the more impressed I became.

Keep in mind that the new owners just took over, so they haven't perfected the boxes completely just yet.

But don't worry — I reached out to them, and they've promised that there are even more options coming in the near future.

This recommended dog subscription box can be ordered for dogs, cats, and multi-cat households.

Surprise My Pet is a family-owned and operated company that is run by a 15-year-old, a 17-year-old, and their parents!

I think the current boxes are great, but I'm excited to follow the family's journey with this company and explore the new features they'll be offering soon.

For now, these subscription boxes can be customized based on your dog’s size, age, and gender.

I'm hoping that some of the coming features will include options for power chewers and treats and chews for dogs with food allergies or digestive sensitivities.

Since I have a multi-pet household, I'd also love to see a dog/cat box that offers a few products for each pet.

The two toys that I received were simple plush toys.

Our dogs ruined them quickly, so I definitely wouldn't recommend this box if your dog really likes to chew — unless they start offering an option for power chewers.

The treats were all made with natural, healthy ingredients.  While the cost is similar to other best dog subscription box options, the value isn't as good as its competitors yet.

A subscription to the Surprise My Pet Dog subscription box costs:

  • $30 per month for a 1-month subscription
  • $28 per month for a 3-month subscription
  • $26 per month for a 12-month subscription

Every Surprise My Pet box that is sold supports animal charities.

The company works with many charities and donates funds to a different organization each month.

Pooch Perks dog subscription box

11 Pooch Perks

Order it here
PRICE:
$27-$32 per month + $5 shipping

This pet subscription box offers almost as many options as the PupJoy dog subscription box mentioned above.

You'll get 2-3 dog toys and 2 bags of dog treats in every Pooch Perks box.

This is also another box that offers options for toy-only or treat-only deliveries.

If you decide to get only toys or treats, you'll receive 3 items every month.

The treats provided in these monthly subscription boxes for dogs from Pooch Perks are always made in the USA with all-natural ingredients.

As I've mentioned previously, you won't need to worry about receiving products from China, and your pet box will also be customized based on your dog's:

  • size
  • allergies
  • toy durability needs

You can let the company know that your dog needs more durable toys, but they don't offer an option for aggressive/power chewers.

If your dog is one who tends to rip toys to shreds, try the Bullymake or Blockhead box, as they're specifically made for dogs with powerful jaws that are tough chewers.

Like the PupJoy box, you can have the Pooch Perks dog subscription box delivered monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly.

This is a great option for houses with multiple dogs that go through more toys and treats than single-dog homes.

It’s also nice if you have a dog that doesn’t go through as many treats or toys, and you don’t think you’ll use all of the products within a month’s time.

Like most of the other best dog subscription box options, the prices of the Pooch Perks box vary depending on the size of your dog and the preferences you choose.

You can get a subscription for $36 per month. The box that I show in this video review is for a large dog with no allergies or chewing preferences.

This company also charges $5 per month for shipping.

Like some of the other monthly subscription boxes for dogs on this list, you can also include an extra toy in your Pooch Perks box for an additional $8 per month.

While it isn’t the dog subscription box that offers the best value, it’s not the most expensive either.

Rescue Box dog subscription box

12 Rescue Box

Order it here
PRICE:
$29.95 per month

I had to add the Rescue Box to my list of the best dog subscription box options.

As shown in my review, not only does it offer a good variety of pet products, but it also offers dog owners an easy way to give back to pets in need.

Like the Blockhead Box and the Surprise My Pet box, this one gives back to charities, too, but in a much bigger way!

Rescue Box has partnered with GreaterGood.org‘s Rescue Bank.

They donate part of the proceeds from selling every box to this non-profit organization.

The funds are used to distribute food to animal welfare groups across the United States.

Amazingly, these Rescue boxes helped to donate more than 50 million pounds of food to animals in need last year!

Like many of the other monthly subscription boxes for dogs on this list, you'll find treats, toys, chews, and canine accessories in the Rescue Box.

The products included in every box are valued at $40+.

Most of the treats and chews included in these boxes are made in the USA, but some of them are also made in USDA facilities in South America and Canada.

Rescue Box insists that they NEVER include dog treats or chews from China.

I know I've mentioned this about a few other subscription boxes, but I wish this one offered a few more customization options.

You can get a Rescue Box for dogs or cats, but unfortunately, you can only customize the box for your pup's size.

As I mentioned, the proceeds for every box sold benefit animals in need.

If you subscribe for 1 month, you’ll be providing the funds to vaccinate 2 shelter pets and donate 5 pounds of food. If you subscribe for 3 months, you’ll be providing the funds to vaccinate 6 shelter pets and donate 15 pounds of food.

If you subscribe for 6 months, you’ll be providing the funds to vaccinate 12 shelter pets and donate 60 pounds of food. If you subscribe for 12 months, you’ll be providing the funds to vaccinate 24 shelter pets and donate 60 pounds of food.

A subscription to Rescue Box costs:

  • $29.95 per month for a 1-month subscription
  • $27.95 per month for a 3-month subscription
  • $25.45 per month for a 6-month subscription
  • $23.45 per month for a 12-month subscription

Shipping to locations in the continental United States is free, but it’s an additional $5.95 per month for locations in Hawaii and Alaska.

ChiMom Dog Box

13 ChiMom Box

UPDATE (November 2023): This subscription service is no longer available.

The ChiMom Box includes products that have been specifically chosen for Chihuahuas and their doggy mom.

Every ChiMom Box includes 4-7 items, including at least 1 toy, 1 treat, and 1 Chihuahua-themed product.

You may also receive grooming supplies, accessories for your dog, accessories for yourself, bath and body items, stationary, or jewelry.

When you sign up for this subscription box, you will be asked to take a survey about your dog's coat length, weight, sex, etc.

If there are variants available, the company will choose the product best suited for your Chihuahua.

Unfortunately, the company doesn't give a lot of information about the quality of the products that they select for their boxes. However, the treats that were included in my box were wheat, corn, and soy-free.

They were also made in the U.S.A.

The other products were all of good quality as well, which leads me to assume that the company takes pride in including high-quality products in the ChiMom Box.

You have the option of purchasing a one-time box for $34.99 or buying a subscription to have a ChiMom Box delivered to you every other month for $31.99 per box.

You will also need to pay $4.99 for shipping on every box.

This dog subscription box is more expensive than other similar boxes, but you only have to pay every other month, so it actually works out to be cheaper per month.

Plus, you'll get at least $40 worth of products in every box, so it's still a good value for the money.

Shaggy Swag Dog Subsription Box

14 Shaggy Swag Dog Box

UPDATE (November 2023): This subscription service is no longer available.

Every Shaggy Swag Box includes 2 or more toys, 2 or more bags of treats, a fashion accessory, and poop bags.

The value of the products in each box is at least $80! I show in the review how their comfort items can include treats and dog toys, and the connection piece will be focused on helping you build a stronger bond with your canine companion.

This company says they live by the “3 C's” – convenience, comfort, and connection — and they add an element of each into every Shaggy Swag Box.

They say that you can expect to receive 2-3 products of convenience items, like a package of grooming wipes and dog poop bags.

Some subscription boxes offer the option of being delivered monthly, bi-monthly, or every month.

This one is delivered monthly, and you can cancel your subscription anytime without paying a penalty.

You can customize the products included in your Shaggy Swag Box based on your dog's size, breed, allergies, and chewing preferences.

The company also has a Shaggy Shredders box for power chewers and a Shaggy Style box for fashion lovers.

The Shaggy Shredder Box is $36 monthly or $105 for the 3-month pre-pay option.

The Shaggy Style Box is $40 monthly and $115 for the 3-month pre-pay option.

Keeping in mind that you'll receive at least $80 worth of products in every box, this is a good value for the money.

If you're interested in receiving a variety of pet products each month, this box is a good option.

If you're only interested in toys and/or treats, another brand would better fit your pup.

Pug Box Dog Subscription Box

Order it here
PRICE:
$26.49-$36.49 per month

Like most subscription boxes, the Pug Box is delivered monthly. You will receive 4-6 items in each box.

The items could include packaged treats, chews, plush toys, chew toys, dog accessories, and pug-themed products.

As you will see in my video review above, I received 2 plush toys, 2 chews, 1 bag of treats, and a pillow case with a Pug on it.

Once you sign up, your subscription will automatically renew until you decide to cancel it. You can cancel at any time with no penalty fees.

While these products are hand-picked with Pugs in mind, I do think this box would be suitable for most small breeds.

As you can see, our Beagle, Molly, loved the products that she received in this box.

Unfortunately, because the products are chosen for Pugs, that really limits the versatility of the box.

Other subscription boxes for dogs can be customized based on a dog's size and chewing preferences, but not the Pug Box.

I should note that the company is working on a box that will cater to dogs with food allergies.

The pricing for the Pug Box also works differently than with most subscription boxes. Most companies offer a discounted price if you sign up for a longer subscription.

The Pug Box offers two pricing options:

  • Traditional Pug Box (4-6 items) – $26.49 per month
  • Premium Pug Box (5-7 items) – $36.49 per month

Other companies offer subscription lengths from 1-12+ months.

But, the Pug Box is a flat monthly rate that will continue to automatically renew until you cancel your subscription.

I think the price of the Pub Box is a bit more expensive than similar subscription boxes.

If you order the traditional box, you will pay $4.83-$7.25 per item. While most of the items included in my box would retail for more than that, some of them would not.
