Review: Outward Hound Bionic Bone Dog Toy

Does your dog love to play with toys? Mine do, too! In fact, our girls love to chew on toys so much that we go through dozens of dog toys each year. It can be a challenge to find toys that engage them and will hold up to their strong jaws. When I heard the Outward Hound Bionic Bone might live up to this challenge, I just had to try it out for myself.

It's important to provide your pup with a variety of toys to benefit his mental and physical development. Some dog owners think that toys are just there to play with when Fido needs some exercise. On the contrary, if you purchase the right toys for your dog, they can also be very mentally stimulating.

Outward Hound Bionic BoneJust like us, our dogs crave mental stimulation. Without it, they'll get bored and begin to find things to entertain themselves. Much like a bored toddler, this will probably result in your canine companion ruining your belongings or getting into something that he shouldn't be messing with.

The Outward Hound Bionic Bone is a multi-use toy. It can be used for chewing, fetching or playing in the water. This is a unique toy for sure, but will your dog like it? Read on to find out all the details and see what our dogs thought of the Bionic Bone.

Outward Hound Bionic Bone Dog Toy Review

Outward Hound Bionic BoneOur Labrador, Saddie, has powerful jaws, and this toy works really well for her. They are designed for power chewers, so if your dog really loves to gnaw and chomp this could be a good choice for your Fido.

The Bionic Bone isn't a traditional rubber dog toy. They are made with a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) material, which is a mix of rubber and plastic. They are BPA, lead and phthalate free.

Outward Hound Bionic BoneThese Outward Hound dog toys can be stuffed with treats to provide a long-lasting chewing experience for dogs that just love to gnaw on things. There are no sharp edges, and they don't splinter. As you will see in my video review above, I like stuffing our Bionic Bones with peanut butter to keep our dogs entertained for a long time.

The Bionic Bone is available in three sizes. We have the large size for Saddie. It is weighted on both ends to create a spiral motion when thrown. It also bounces and floats in water.

Saddie loves her Outward Hound Bionic Bone, and it's great that we can change up our play style so much with just one toy!

As I demonstrate in my video review, Saddie loves to play fetch with her Bionic Bone. It has an unpredictable bounce that makes it an exciting challenge for her.

Sometimes when I'm going to be out of the house for a while I like to stuff this toy with peanut butter in advance and freeze it. It's usually covered in food particles and drool by the time we come home, but the Outward Hound Bionic Bone is top rack dishwasher safe for easy cleaning. BONUS!

The Bionic Bone is available in green, purple and orange. Depending on the size and color that you want, it ranges in price from $5.30 to $13.99 on Amazon right now. That's a very reasonable price for a durable, safe and interactive dog toy.
