Review: iSPECLE Dog Training Collar

Electronic training collars are one of the most controversial dog training products, but if you know how to use one correctly they can be a very effective training aid. Today, I’m only reviewing the iSPECLE Dog Training Collar, not sharing my opinion on whether or not I believe using an electronic collar is an appropriate way to train your dog. That decision is completely up to you, and it's best you familiarize yourself with the use of dog shock collars.

iSPECLE Dog Training CollarI have tested many different dog training collars over the years. While I certainly would not say that I am an expert at training dogs with these devices, I have learned one thing through all of my experience – all electronic collars are not created equally.

When shopping for an e-collar, it's important to read reviews from real life dog owners who have tried the product with their pets.Consistency is the top priority when it comes to these buying an electronic dog collar. If the product isn't consistent, your dog will become confused and the training will not be effective.

Cheap dog training collars are made with poor quality materials and the electrical system may be subpar. With that being said, the iSPECLE Dog Training Collar is more expensive than some similar products. Thankfully, it also offers a nice variety of features and works consistently.

If you're not sure whether an electronic collar is a good choice, read these related articles for more information on the subject:

iSPECLE Dog Training Collar ReviewThis electronic collar from iSPECLE is run by a remote control, so you have to be watching your dog at all times in order for it to be effective. You need to monitor your dog constantly in order to correct him when necessary.

You must be consistent in your training with this type of electronic collar. Otherwise, it will take much longer for your dog to grasp what you are trying to teach him. If he can get away with naughty behavior sometimes, he'll push his boundaries every time hoping that you're not watching.

The iSPECLE Dog Training Collar (like all remote dog training collars) isn’t as convenient as a wireless containment system, but it is a lot more versatile. A wireless system can only be used in close proximity to the base unit. With a remote system like this one, you can take it with you anywhere you go.

Wireless containment systems are really only beneficial for training your dog to stay in the yard or keeping him out of unwanted places like gardens or ponds. Remote systems like this can be used for all types of training from obedience to leash training and boundary training.

A remote control system also allows you to train your dog using verbal cues, as well as the audible and static corrections. The iSPECLE Dog Training Collar has a very impressive range of 875 yards (2,625 feet), which is farther than many of its competitors. Its long range makes this training collar ideal for use with hunting and working dogs.

One remote can control up to 3 collars, so this system is an option for multi-pet families, hunters or trainers working with multiple canines at once. The receiver collars will fit dogs with a neck circumference of 7″-25″ and are suitable for dogs weighing more than 20 pounds.

The iSPECLE dog training collar is not suitable for small breeds, but most electronic collars aren't.

This system offers 4 correction modes, including:

  • LED light
  • audible tone
  • vibration
  • electronic stimulation

iSPECLE dog training collarThe vibration and shock modes have 99 adjustable levels. This is a big benefit over electronic collar systems that only offer 8-12 correction levels. More levels means a smaller increase in the strength of the correction from one level to the next. A more gradual increase allows you to find just the right level that your dog will respond to without causing him pain.

I prefer working with a system that offers the audible tone and vibration correction, because it will catch the attention of most dogs without having to use the static correction. While some dogs don’t respond to the audible tone right away, the vibration will usually get their attention.

While most electronic collars only come with one collar and receiver, the iSPECLE Dog Training Collar comes with 2 receivers that are waterproof, 2 collars and 1 remote. Both the collars and the remote are rechargeable.

iSPECLE dog training collarThe feature that really sets this collar apart from other similar products is the soft touch points that cover the metal points on the collar receiver. The static correction and vibration can still be felt through these silicone covers, but they make it much more comfortable for your dog to wear.

As I mentioned, this system is slightly more expensive than other similar products, but you also get 2 collars and 2 receivers. I have been using this collar for more than a month now, and it's been consistent 100% of the time. I’m very impressed with its reliability!

At the time of this review, the iSPECLE dog training collar can be purchased on Amazon for $49.99. It also comes with a 12 month warranty. If you're not satisfied with this collar for any reason, the company also says they offer a 100% refund or a free replacement.
