Review: PetSafe CozyUp Pet Stairs

There are a number of reasons why you may find a set of pet stairs to be useful for your pooch. If your dog needs a boost, the PetSafe CozyUp Pet Stairs may be a good option. These stairs are easily portable and fold up for storage when not in use.

Aside from being easy to transport and store, there are a number of other features that you should be looking for when shopping for pet stairs. First, and most importantly, you need to ensure that your dog meets the weight restrictions for the stairs you're considering and that the size of the step is appropriate for your dog.

Studies have found that jumping and climbing may eventually result in joint health issues and arthritis in dogs. While jumping and climbing can be hard on a dog's bones and joints, the wrong set of pet stairs can also be dangerous for your canine companion.

If the stairs are too steep or the depth of the stairs is not the right size, your dog could trip, slip or fall down onto the floor. This could result in serious injury to your pet, including broken bones or internal injuries.

The PetSafe CozyUp Pet Stairs are a good option for medium and large breeds, but if you have a very small dog you may need to find a more suitable option. They are equipped with a few must-have safety features and are a great option if you'll need to move the stairs frequently.

Review: PetSafe CozyUp Pet Stairs

PetSafe CozyUp Pet StairsThe PetSafe Cozy Up Pet Stairs are available in a standard size measuring 24″L X 16″W X 20″H or an extra large size measuring 28″L x 18″W x 25″H. These are large pet stairs, so if you have a very small breed (like a Chihuahua), these steps won't be a good fit for your pet.

These stairs are made of lightweight plastic with carpeting strips on each step. I doubted how durable they would be, but I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the larger size can hold dogs weighing up to 200 pounds! The smaller size can hold pets weighing up to 150 pounds.

The standard-size stairs weigh about 5 pounds, and the extra-large size weighs about 9 pounds. These are some of the best stairs for owners who will need to move them around frequently. They fold up for easy storage, so they are perfect for traveling or storing under a bed when not in use.

If you're planning to use these steps in multiple rooms of your home or you want to bring them along with you while traveling, the PetSafe CozyUp Pet Stairs will be one of your best options. It's hard to find travel pet stairs that are suitable for large breeds, but these would definitely be a good option.

As I demonstrate in my video review above, the built-in side rails keep your pet from accidentally stepping over the edge of the stairs. The carpeting on each step also provides traction to prevent slipping.

It may take a while to train your dog to walk up a set of pet stairs comfortably. I was happy to see that these stairs are equipped with non-skid rubber feet. If the stairs that you purchase slide along the floor when your dog climbs on them, he will be even more frightened, and you will have a very difficult time training him to use the steps.

As you will see in my video guide above, there is a little bit of movement. It doesn't deter my dogs, but some dogs may get nervous when they feel the steps wiggle beneath them. Sturdier pet stairs are made with, so they are also much heavier and more expensive.

At the time of this review, you can purchase these pet stairs on Amazon for $41.95-59.95. This is a very reasonable price for the quality of the product, especially considering that they can support dogs weighing up to 200 pounds.
