Review: PetSafe Solvit PupSTEP Plus Pet Stairs

There are a number of reasons why you may find a set of pet stairs to be useful for your pooch. If your dog needs a boost, the PetSafe Solvit PupSTEP Plus pet stairs may be a good option. These stairs are easily portable and fold up for storage when not in use.

Aside from being easy to transport and store, there are a number of other features that you should be looking for when shopping for pet stairs. You need to ensure that your dog meets the weight restrictions for the stairs you're considering and that the size of the step is appropriate for your dog.

PetSafe Solvit PupSTEP PlusStudies have found that jumping and climbing may eventually result in joint health issues and arthritis in dogs. While jumping and climbing can be hard on a dog's bones and joints, the wrong set of pet stairs can also injure your canine companion.

If the stairs are too steep or the depth of the stairs are not the right size, your dog could trip, slip or fall down onto the floor. This could result in serious injury to your pet, including broken bones or internal injuries.

The PetSafe Solvit PupSTEP Plus stairs are a good option for medium and large breeds, but if you have a very small dog you may need to find a more suitable option. They are equipped with a few must-have safety features, and are a great option if you'll need to move the stairs frequently.

PetSafe Solvit PupSTEP Plus Pet Stairs Review

PetSafe Solvit PupSTEP Plus Pet Stairs ReviewThe PetSafe Solvit PupSTEP Plus dog stairs measure 28″L X 18″W X 25″H when they are set up. The step dimensions are 15″W X 7″D X 6.25″H. For this reason, if you have a very small breed (like a Chihuahua) that cannot lift his leg 6.25″ high, these steps won't be a good fit for your dog.

These stairs are made of a lightweight plastic with carpeting strips on each step. I doubted how durable they would be, but I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they can hold dogs weighing up to 200 pounds! There is also a smaller size that can hold pets weighing up to 120 pounds.

Weighing just 9 pounds, these are some of the best stairs for owners that will need to move them around frequently. They fold up for easy storage and measure just 36.5″ X 17.75″ X 6.25″ when folded. They are perfect for traveling or storing under a bed when not in use

PetSafe Solvit PupSTEP Plus Pet Stairs ReviewIf you're planning to use these steps in multiple rooms of your home or you want to bring these pet stairs along with you while traveling, the PetSafe Solvit PupSTEP Plus stairs will be one of your best options.

As I demonstrate in my video review above, the built-in side rails keep your pet from accidentally stepping over the edge of the stairs. The carpeting on each step also provides traction to prevent slipping.

It may take a while to train your dog to walk up a set of pet stairs comfortably. I was happy to see that the PetSafe Solvit PupSTEP Plus stairs are equipped with non-skid feet. If the stairs that you purchase slide along the floor when your dog climbs on them, he will be even more frightened and you will have a very difficult time training him to use the steps.

At the time of this review, you can purchase the PetSafe Solvit PupSTEP Plus stairs on Amazon for $57.95. This is a very reasonable price for the quality of the product, especially considering that they can support dogs weighing up to 200 pounds.
