Subscription boxes offer the convenience of having products that you need delivered right to your front door. The Pug Box, as the name suggests, is a subscription box specifically designed for Pug dogs. The dog products included can be used for any small breed, but each box also includes some Pug-themed items.
One of the biggest growing trends in retail right now is subscription boxes. From clothing to make up and groceries to grooming products, you can find subscription boxes offering almost any product. The benefit to this service is the convenience, but not every subscription box offers a good value for the money you spend.
When you're shopping for a dog subscription box, value shouldn't be the only thing you're thinking about. What types of products are included in the box? If there are dog treats included, are they healthy and safe? Can you customize the box based on your dog's allergy needs? Will the included toys hold up to your dog's chewing style?
There is a lot to consider and many options available on the market when shopping around for dog boxes. The Pug Box chooses products that are best suited for Pug dogs. I think that the products would be suitable for most small breeds, but the versatility of this box is definitely limited.
Pug Box Dog Subscription Box Review
Like most subscription boxes, the Pug Box is delivered monthly. You will receive 4-6 items in each box. The items could include packaged treats, chews, plush toys, chew toys, dog accessories and pug-themed products.
As you will see in my video review above, I received 2 plush toys, 2 chews, 1 bag of treats and a pillow case with a Pug on it. Once you sign up, your subscription will automatically renew until you decide to cancel it. You can cancel at any time with no penalty fees.
While these products are hand picked with Pugs in mind, I do think this box would be suitable for most small breeds. As you can see, our Beagle, Molly, loved the products that she received in this box.
Unfortunately, because the products are chosen for Pugs, that really limits the versatility of the box. Other subscription boxes for dogs can be customized based on a dog's size and chewing preferences, but not the Pug Box. I should note that the company is working on a box that will cater to dogs with food allergies.
The pricing for the Pug Box also works differently than with most subscription boxes. Most companies offer a discounted price if you sign up for a longer subscription. The Pug Box offers two pricing options:
- Traditional Pug Box (4-6 items) – $29 per month
- Premium Pug Box (5-7 items) – $38 per month
Other companies offer subscription lengths from 1-12+ months. But, the Pug Box is a flat monthly rate that will continue to automatically renew until you cancel your subscription.
You can sign up for The Pug Box on CrateJoy.
I think the price of the Pub Box is a bit more expensive than similar subscription boxes. If you order the traditional box, you will pay $4.83-$7.25 per item. While most of the items included in my box would retail for more than that, some of them would not.
Overall, when you consider the convenience of having the products shipped directly to you and the fact that the items are hand picked for Pugs, the value is fair for the price that you pay.
