The popularity of assistance animals – therapy dogs, emotional support dogs, service dogs, etc. – is rising quickly. Similarly, there's more research coming out every year on how “regular” pet dogs can benefit their owners in more than one way. Studies show they have positive effects on humans' fitness, heart, social and emotional heath and enrichment.
To further explore this subject, in this podcast episode I'm joined by Kaushik Roy of The Shanti Project. He's here to give us a broader view of such research and explain how pets actually benefit pet owners. On a separate subject, we also talk about their unique project that helps owners in staying together with their dogs and cats through financial hardships.
