December is the month for hot deals on dog supplies. They are everywhere, and for the past few weeks we've been picking out the best deals from many online dog supply retailers on Black Friday, Cyber Monday, 12 Days of Deals, Top Amazon picks, and many more weekly deals.
We're now very close to Christmas time and near the end of the month, and many pet parents are done shopping. But if you're one of those who are late to the party of deals on dog supplies, there are a few great discounts on certain dog products that are worth taking a look at.
I have personally combed through these hot deals below, trying to find the best prices on a variety of doggy must-haves. Since price is not the only determining factor for whether or not you should buy a product, I also considered the quality and customer reviews of these items. In the end, what I have found is what I believe to be good quality dog products for more than half off. ‘Tis the season to shop for your dog!

Amazon is selling this Aspenpet Pet Porter Kennel for over half off. This is a great deal that cannot be beaten. They have this kennel in other sizes on sale, too, but the prices have not been cut by quite as much. The next size up, for 70- to 90-pound dogs, is also a good deal at $112.19. It regularly sells for $185.30. The next size down, for 30- to 50-pound dogs, is on sale for $69.99. That price is $25.00 less than the regular price.
I’m a firm believer in keeping dogs confined in a crate or cage while they are home alone. That way I know they are safe and I don’t come home to destroyed furniture or an oops! on the floor. This type of hard plastic kennel with a comfy pad on the bottom is great for crating your dog at home or taking him or her for a ride in a vehicle. It is a sturdy kennel that keeps the dog safely contained. This particular kennel is airline-travel approved for domestic travel, as long as you buy metal fasteners to hold it together. Airlines won’t accept kennels held together with plastic fasteners. Metal wing nuts and bolts must be bought separately. Dry Fur sells universal metal dog kennel wing nuts and bolts for about $10.00 for a package of 8. You will have to buy two packages for this size crate. This crate is not approved for international airline travel because it has no ventilation in the back panel.

This is an amazing deal from Amazon.com on an ex-pen for dogs. The panels are 42 inches high by 24 inches wide. When put together in a square it becomes a 4-foot by 4-foot exercise pen. It does not have a top or bottom grate. One of the panels is also a pen door that swings open. I get a lot of use from exercise pens like this. I put pups and grown dogs that need to be confined indoors or outdoors in ex-pens to keep them safe and out of trouble. This one comes with anchors that will keep it in place outdoors and help contain ambitious dogs that might try to tunnel under it to escape.
These pens are indispensable when you take your dog on the road with you. The whole thing folds flat so it is easy to pack. They can be set up quickly at a rest stop so the dog can stretch his or her legs while you take a break or have something to eat. When you are ready to continue on your way, just fold the pen back up, stow it and go.

This is an incredible deal from Amazon.com for a medium-sized wire dog crate. It is recommended for dogs that weigh between 50 and 70 pounds. The crate is 32 inches long, 23 inches wide, and 21 inches high and comes with a divider that can be useful for crate-training a puppy. They sell this cage in other sizes, too, although they are not offering them at such a great price. The next size down, for dogs that weigh 30 to 50 pounds, is actually $6 more. It is actually cheaper to give your dog a little extra room.
This crate has a door at one end and a door on one side, which I find very helpful. The double door option makes it easier to fit the cage into tight spaces. It also comes with a leak-proof bottom pan that can be removed for cleaning, a handle on top and it folds up for easy storage.

Nutramax Cosequin DS Plus contains MSM and glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate in a chewable tablet. It is given to dogs to improve cartilage production. This supplement can help repair pre-existing damage and prevent cartilage loss or damage in healthy dogs. Amazon is selling the 132-count size for over half off. This is a great price for this particular joint health supplement. I’ve given this type of supplement to an elderly Rottweiler and saw marked improvement. After a few weeks, he was even keeping up with his Labrador retriever pup brothers.
If your dog is suffering from joint pain, give him 1/2 to 3 tablets, depending on how much he weighs, every day for four to six weeks. Dogs that weigh under 15 pounds should be given 1/2 tablet, 16 to 30 pounds should be given 1 tablet, 31 to 60 pounds should be given 2 tablets and over 60 pounds should be given 3 tablets. The dog should improve within six weeks. He or she may even begin to recover in under four weeks. Cut the dosage back to 1/2 to 2 tablets every other day after six weeks or after he shows marked improvement.

These chewable Omega 3-6-9 fish oil supplements are given to dogs to improve brain, bone, heart, skin, immune system, and joint health. They also give dogs a nice, shiny coat. I like this type of supplement but not all dogs need it. I always read the dog food ingredients before giving dogs any type of supplement. Lots of the better dog foods already contain Omega 3-6-9 and more of a good thing is not always better. If the dog is suffering from health problems though, he or she may need more than what is in the food. This supplement is made by Amazing Nutritionals with 100% natural ingredients. Their hypoallergenic formula does not contain avocado, corn, crab, egg, grains, soy, maltodextrin, wheat, or other ingredients that can trigger allergic reactions in dogs with allergies. Amazon is offering the 120-count bottle of bacon- and liver-flavored chewables for over half off.
This supplement can be given to your dog to help him recover from illness, injury, or joint pain, just to improve his coat, or to prevent health problems. The recommended dosage is 3 tablets each day for dogs that weigh up to 40 pounds, 3 to 4 tablets for dogs weighing between 40 and 80 pounds, or 5 to 6 tablets for dogs between 80 and 120 pounds. However, you want to start out with 1 tablet and work your way up to the recommended dose over a few days to a week. Any change in a dog’s diet can cause digestive problems. Give the dog 1 tablet each day for two to three days then, if he tolerates the fish oil, increases the dose to two tablets each day for another few days. After your dog adjusts, increase the amount to the recommended dose for his size. It may take a month or so to notice improvements, especially if the dog is recovering from any serious or long-term problems. Cut back to 1 tablet each day, regardless of the dog’s size, after he or she has recovered. If the dog isn’t recovering from anything, 1 or 2 tablets per day will help prevent future health problems and give him a shiny coat.

This is not a cheap little “dog pillow.” It is a cute dog bed with a furniture look for $40.87. It’s made by K&H Manufacturing and is on sale for this price right now on Amazon.com. Unless your dog is extra-large, he or she will have plenty of room to stretch out and get comfy on his or her own 32” by 24” couch. The $40.87 model is mocha and tan. They are selling a blue and gray model for $44.95. Depending on the dog, you may want to add some cushion with an egg-crate-type foam mattress as it does seem to compress easily. The filling is soft and may not be enough support for a heavy dog. This is very inexpensive and easy to do, though. Just cut the foam mattress to size, unzip the cover and slip it in. It is still a bargain, even with the added $10 or so for the foam mattress.
Besides looking classy, this pet bed is eco-friendly and easy to keep clean. The filling is made from recycled plastic bottles and the whole thing is machine washable. That’s right, the cover, bolster, and filling can all be thrown in the washing machine. I am particularly fond of this option. I like to wash the dog beds every couple of weeks and this makes it so easy. Wash it in the gentle cycle and dry it in the dryer set on “no-heat.” The cushion is tufted to keep the filling from shifting and getting lumpy. Throwing a tennis shoe or rubber ball in the dryer with it will help fluff up the filling while it dries.

This is a great price for a good nail grinder. The Dremel 7300-PT 4.8-Volt grinder is cordless and comes with a charger. Amazon.com is selling this grinder for $23.99. Nail grinders are easy to use and surprisingly well-tolerated by most dogs. I like the reduced risk of catching the quick, which unfortunately is easy to do on black nails. This one has a high and low speed. The high-speed setting will quickly grind off excess nail growth. The low speed won’t grind the nails down as quickly but it is quieter. This low-speed setting is good for skittish dogs that don’t want you to touch their paws at all, let alone touch them with a scary thing that vibrates and makes noise.
The trick to using these things successfully is getting the dog used to them. Take a week or two to get your dog accustomed to the noise and vibration. You may find your dog even likes the feel of the handle vibrating along his or her back. Start out with it set on low, so the dog gets used to the sound, then turn it on high. Give the dog a tasty treat or two when he or she sits quietly. When you are ready to grind the dog’s nails down, cover his or her eyes. These things kick up dust from the nails while grinding them down. The dust will cause irritation if it gets in the dog's eyes. Just drape a towel over his or her eyes or tie a soft sock loosely around the dog’s head. You might want to wear some protective eyewear, too.

The ZoomGroom is a useful grooming tool for bath time or any time. It’s a rubber nubby-bristle brush that makes bath time easier and more enjoyable for you and your dog. The nubs work the dead hair loose and give the dog a nice massage at the same time. Even dogs that are sure they are allergic to water and dog shampoo relax when you start rubbing them down with the ZoomGroom. The soft rubber nubs stimulate good circulation, too, encouraging healthy skin-oil production. It works best on short-hair breeds, who shed more than you may think, but it is useful for long-hair breeds, too. Amazon has a great sale going on the ZoomGroom right now, offering the large size for more than half off.
The ZoomGroom is not just a grooming tool. It is a good dog toy, too. It is made by KONG, the master of durable dog toys. KONG toys are about the only toys my big dogs couldn’t destroy in under 5 minutes. Dogs love to play with the ZoomGroom and chew on it. The rubber nubs make it especially appealing to pups. At this low price, you could get two of them. Give the dog one to hold in his or her mouth at bath time while you lather him or her up with the other one.
