TOP #106: How One Veteran is Helping Shelter Dogs in Need

Veteran's Day is nearly here, so I decided it'd be a great time to do a podcast with one of my favorite veterans currently working with shelter dogs. His name is Matthew Lamarand and he's the CEO of Dogology University. He is also a United States Military Veteran K9 Handler with 10 years experience training working canines to scout for explosives.

Matthew's story began when he realized that 96% of surrendered dogs have never been trained in obedience, so he dedicated himself to this specific task and is now training rescue dogs for service work. He trained service dogs for Veterans with PTSD and kids with diabetes and some other disorders. On top of that, Matthew rehomes all the animals that he works with to new families who need service dogs around, and does it for free.

Samantha’s biggest passion in life is spending time with her Boxer dogs. After she rescued her first Boxer in 2004, Samantha fell in love with the breed and has continued to rescue three other Boxers since then. She enjoys hiking and swimming with her Boxers, Maddie and Chloe.
